Most of us, will, at some point, and for various reasons, experience emotional, psychological or spiritual challenges which can impact and limit the quality of our lives. I am a BACP Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist, experienced in working with adults of all ages, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds. According to your needs, I will draw on different schools of Psychology, such as, humanistic, psychodynamic, attachment theory and/or transpersonal, to provide either short-term-focused counselling/therapy or longer-term in-depth therapy.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Integrative Therapist, BACP member.
In addition, I am a Psychosynthesis therapist in training at the Institute of Psychosynthesis, London, where I am completing my Masters in Psychosynthesis Psychology.
I have worked mostly in the areas of co-dependency, addictions, depression, anxiety, bereavement, low self-esteem, family issues, spiritual crisis and other blockages or traumas.
Being of service to others in the form of helping a ‘fellow traveller,’ providing a safe, empathetic, non-judgemental, compassionate space is the foundation of my practice. The work is done collaboratively, so that you feel supported and encouraged in working through your barriers, becoming more connected to your Authentic Self, and living a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
In my experience, healing and positive change often begin with challenging crises, but with the appropriate therapeutic alliance, where the client feels understood, motivated, and invested in their work with the therapist, a shift from survival mode to thriving occurs.
I have been practicing meditation, especially pranayama (breathing meditation) and Vedic chanting for the past 15 years and find it to be a soothing and helpful tool in the process of healing, which is also available to you in your session, if you so choose.
My practice is 2 minutes from the Hampstead Heath Overground, very near the enchanting Hampstead Heath in northwest London.
Walking therapy is also available.
Practice description
I am informed by a combination of therapeutic theories. I will adjust them to what you bring to the sessions. In the first session, I will ask you a few questions about yourself, what brought you to therapy and what your desired goals are. If we decide to work together, I will offer an overview of how I see us working and discuss it with you, as this needs to be a collaborative process.I offer sessions in English and Brazilian Portuguese.
